I’ve always known that the Society of Jesus was never afraid to stand up against economic injustice, but it is good to see that they’ve recognized the evil that is payday lending.

quotes my second favorite Jesuit (after the brilliant Pierre Teilhard de Chardin) Pope Francis, in one of his countless awesome tirades against the various evils that pervade the world:
“When a family has nothing to eat because of loan sharks, that is not Christian! It is inhuman! It is a dramatic social evil that wounds the inviolable dignity of the human person.”
